Technical questions

Are the wheel sets equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system?

By default, all offered complete wheels are equipped without an original tire pressure monitoring system (abbreviated RDKS, RDK or RDC). If a tire pressure monitoring system is installed, this is noted in the description. We are happy to offer you the matching RDKS for every complete wheel or alloy rim set. Please contact us with the chassis number of your vehicle.

Does my vehicle have a tire pressure monitoring system?

Since November 01, 2014, an active or passive tire pressure monitoring system (abbreviated RDKS, RDK or RDC) has been mandatory for all new cars. You can recognize such a system by the valves installed on the wheel. Metal valves indicate a tire pressure monitoring system, while artificial valves usually mean that no active tire pressure monitoring system is installed. If you are not sure, we will be happy to check for you whether a TPMS system is present or not. Please contact us with the chassis number of your vehicle.

Are the tire pressure monitoring systems original?

Just like with our complete wheels, we usually use original parts from the respective car manufacturers or their suppliers for the tire pressure sensors. In some cases, however, it happens that we have to use RDKS sensors from the passenger car aftermarket. These are very high quality TPMS sensors. However, this is explicitly communicated by us.

Do tire pressure sensors need to be programmed?

With most manufacturers such as VW, BMW, Mercedes, Seat or Skoda, the sensors are automatically recognized by the vehicle. In some cases, however, the sensors have to be programmed on the vehicle. This is part of the service during a wheel change at our location.

Are the wheels balanced?

Our complete wheels are balanced at the factory. Used complete wheels should be rebalanced before mounting, depending on the mileage. We offer this separately under the point accessories. Complete wheels that we offer with new tires are delivered freshly balanced.

What does the abbreviation DOT mean?

The DOT number is a code pressed onto the tire sidewall. DOT stands for "Department of Transportation" or in short: the production date of the tire. The four-digit code includes the week of production (the first two digits) and the year of production (the last two digits). Unused tires may be sold as new tires for up to five years from the production date if stored properly.

Are suitable wheel bolts included in the scope of delivery?

Wheel bolts are not included in the scope of delivery. Usually, you can simply continue to use the wheel bolts from your existing original wheels.

How many kilometers can I drive with one set of tires?

Unfortunately, this question cannot be answered in a generalized way. Tire wear depends on various factors. For example, tires wear out faster during sporty driving than on longer highway trips at moderate speeds. On average, a new tire can be driven about 35,000 - 45,000 km until the minimum tread depth is reached.

Summer tires have a new tread depth of approx. 6.5 - 7.5 mm
Winter tires have a new tread depth of approx. 7.5 - 8.5 mm
